A two-day training course on Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassaemia will run virtually on 17th-18th October 2022. The course is organised by South Thames Sickle Cell & Thalassemia Network.

The first day of the event will provide an introduction on SCD and Thalassaemia in children, with a focus on several topics related to the management of these disorders in the paediatric population, such as transcranial doppler, Sickle Cell complications and escalation, up to date research, psychology services and transition service.

An insight on Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia in adult patients will be presented on 18th October, including blood transfusions, automated red cell exchanges, iron overload and chelation and new treatments (e.g., bone marrow transplant).

The course is free of charge and is addressed to consultants, clinical academics, nurses, medical trainees, healthcare professionals from London and the network region involved in the care of adults and children with Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassaemia.
