Leonor shared her experience within Work Package 3 at Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa – IPL in Portugal.
In relation to the training course of Isoelectric focusing, it was a very fruitful experience, I learned to identify hemoglobins and their respective variants.
Given the high rate of sickle cell disease cases in Angola, new methodologies are important for both mass screening and identification of other hemoglobin variants.
The methodology of the course was very didactic both in the theoretical component and in the practical component.
I acquired the technical knowledge of the equipment and the stages from the processing of the samples to the interpretation of the results.
With the learning I am able to implement the technique and teach my colleagues.
